About Me

Dr. Chang is a licensed psychologist who earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Pacific University. The bulk of his clinical education and experience has been geared towards working with children, adolescents, and families. His clinical work has taken him all across the country, and has included sites in Oregon, California, Georgia, and finally in Maryland. He completed a clinical internship at Monterey County Children’s Behavioral Health in sunny California, and his postdoctoral fellowship was at the University of Maryland Care Clinic. In both settings, he became well-versed in helping children deal with trauma rooted in child maltreatment (i.e., physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, exposure to domestic violence) through individual and family therapy. Dr. Chang continues to provide individual and family therapy services, though his specialty at GBCC is in doing psychological assessments (including diagnostic and psychoeducational evaluations) with children and adolescents to help them identify their strengths as well as help them make use of the many resources around them.

    About Me

I am a Licensed Psychologist who joined GBCC in October of 2007. I employ an integrative approach to treatment with individuals involving both insight oriented therapy and behavioral interventions to help people achieve their goals. I view therapy as a collaborative relationship in which I help people to achieve insights, to form more effective ways of coping with stress, and to make positive changes in their lives. I believe that people are best able to do this in a caring and supportive environment. My areas of concentration are depression, anxiety, relationship problems, grief and loss, psychological trauma, and crisis intervention.

I earned my Doctoral degree from Loyola College in Maryland and completed my Clinical training at the Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center. Prior to that, I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and my Undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University. I have over ten years experience in providing counseling services to adults.

I am primarily located at Glen Burnie where I perform therapy and weight loss surgery evaluations. I also perform weight loss surgery evaluations at the Timonium location.

My session with Pam today was especially helpful. I have a granddaughter going through a gender crisis. Pam explained and helped answer a lot of my questions. As she pointed out, we might not get the answers we’re looking for. But, as long as we offer them unconditional love and acceptance we don’t have to fully understand. We just have to be there for them without judgement.

Dr. Pam had helped me so much! When talking to other people about their therapeutic process, I can see how her approach helps me make lasting changes so I can work towards being self-reliant. I always recommend [OMH’s] practice to anyone looking for therapy help.
