About Me

Dr. Chang is a licensed psychologist who earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Pacific University. The bulk of his clinical education and experience has been geared towards working with children, adolescents, and families. His clinical work has taken him all across the country, and has included sites in Oregon, California, Georgia, and finally in Maryland. He completed a clinical internship at Monterey County Children’s Behavioral Health in sunny California, and his postdoctoral fellowship was at the University of Maryland Care Clinic. In both settings, he became well-versed in helping children deal with trauma rooted in child maltreatment (i.e., physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, exposure to domestic violence) through individual and family therapy. Dr. Chang continues to provide individual and family therapy services, though his specialty at GBCC is in doing psychological assessments (including diagnostic and psychoeducational evaluations) with children and adolescents to help them identify their strengths as well as help them make use of the many resources around them.

      About Me

I am a Licensed Psychologist who joined GBCC in October of 2007. I employ an integrative approach to treatment with individuals involving both insight oriented therapy and behavioral interventions to help people achieve their goals. I view therapy as a collaborative relationship in which I help people to achieve insights, to form more effective ways of coping with stress, and to make positive changes in their lives. I believe that people are best able to do this in a caring and supportive environment. My areas of concentration are depression, anxiety, relationship problems, grief and loss, psychological trauma, and crisis intervention.

I earned my Doctoral degree from Loyola College in Maryland and completed my Clinical training at the Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center. Prior to that, I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and my Undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University. I have over ten years experience in providing counseling services to adults.

I am primarily located at Glen Burnie where I perform therapy and weight loss surgery evaluations. I also perform weight loss surgery evaluations at the Timonium location.

        About Me

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who uses a person-centered approach to therapy. I graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore with a Master of Social Work with a clinical focus and a specialization in Behavioral Health. My clinical experience includes working with clients in residential and outpatient community mental health settings.

I am a big believer in understanding a client’s circumstances and meeting you where you are. As your therapist, it is my role to facilitate and empower you to reach your goals. Everyone deserves a space where they can be open and fully themselves, and my practice aims to create that space for clients. I work together with clients to be able to find solutions to mental health concerns, as well as everyday problems. I implement a variety of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), narrative, solution-focused, and mindfulness.

I work with adults and older adolescents. My areas of interest include treating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship issues. I specialize in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, especially those who are transgender and non-binary, and bring both professional and lived experience to my practice in this area.

          About Me

Throughout our lives, we face various challenges shaped by our interactions with family, friends, and our environment. These experiences mold our reactions to the world and impact our self-perception, often without our awareness, potentially leading to negative behaviors that hinder our daily functioning and contribute to feelings of existential crisis, aimlessness, and hopelessness. By working together, we can deconstruct these behaviors through a solutions-focused, systems-based approach combined with a trauma-informed, humanistic perspective. This collaborative effort aims to help you rediscover your purpose and evolve into the best version of yourself.

My professional experience encompasses working with clients dealing with terminal illnesses and their families, as well as individuals across various life stages struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, PTSD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. I am committed to creating an honest, understanding, and safe therapeutic space where you can momentarily set aside your mental burdens. Our work will focus on turning down the volume on life’s noise to a manageable level by rediscovering and building upon your existing strengths through a solutions-focused, strengths-based approach, incorporating elements from Coherence Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) tailored to your unique experiences.

My scope of practice primarily serves adults (21+) who live with Bipolar Disorder and other mood disorders, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, issues related to cultural identity (specifically, Filipino and other Asian cultures), and mental health challenges related to women’s health, including perinatal and postnatal experiences.
