About Me

I have had the privilege of working with teens, adults, individuals, and couples in Harford and Baltimore County for several years. My approach is centered on understanding each client’s unique story, meeting them where they are, and helping them build resilience and confidence. I support clients navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

I am also pursuing certification in Perinatal Mental Health, which has deepened my passion for supporting women and couples through fertility, pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. I work with those who have experienced miscarriage, perinatal loss, trauma, and pregnancy decision-making, approaching these experiences with sensitivity and compassion.

My person-centered approach is tailored to each client’s individual needs and goals. I draw from strengths-based, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and feminist theories and incorporate techniques such as mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and reframing. Whether working with teens exploring identity and relationships, adults pursuing personal growth, or couples strengthening their partnership, I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard and valued.

My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by both professional and personal experiences. Witnessing the opioid crisis in my community inspired me to pursue advocacy and mental health, while experiences with illness and loss in my own family strengthened my appreciation for compassion, presence, and self-compassion. Today, my goal is to help clients recognize their strengths and develop the tools they need to move through life’s challenges with resilience and hope.

    About Me

I am a Psychology Associate and have extensive experience providing individual therapy for adolescents and adults, and couples therapy. My clinical focus includes, but not limited to trauma, PTSD, marital and/or family conflict, grief and loss, anxiety, intimacy enhancement and overall psychological wellness. I facilitate psychological growth using an integrative approach, primarily incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and an attachment-based framework.

I am remarkably familiar working with people who have experienced dysfunctional family relationships and the impact of these experiences. I also provide psychological evaluations, cognitive and/or personality assessments to children and adults.

I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University and am a dedicated member of the American Psychological Association and the Division of Military Psychology. I am a retired Veteran with 21 years of service in the Army and Coast Guard. I also have a law enforcement background which motivates me to help enhance the psychological wellness of our first responders and their families.

My philosophy is that psychological wellness is necessary in all that we do. Therefore, the importance of psychotherapy is equivalent to the care we show our body when enduring illness or injury. The awareness and skills developed from therapy continue to promote resilience and benefit you through many of life’s experiences.

      About Me

Dr. Grainer has been a licensed clinical psychologist for over 10 years. He earned his masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Argosy University after receiving his B.S. in psychology from JMU.

While primarily working with young adults dealing with depression, anxiety, and relationship problems, Dr. Grainer also enjoys working with teenagers and seniors struggling with life adjustment issues. As a Type-1 Diabetic he takes a special interest in chronic illness management, dietary health, and the mind and body connection. Utilizing an integrative and client-centered approach to treatment, there is both a focus on exploration of the past as well as the use of cognitive and behavioral interventions in the present to achieve treatment goals.

“Therapy is a passion for me because it’s both an exciting opportunity to solve a complicated puzzle as well as have a meaningful experience in another person’s life.”

        About Me

Starting therapy and talking with someone new about personal concerns can feel intimidating. My goal is to create a compassionate, respectful, and affirming space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly about what you’re experiencing.

Therapy can be a place to better understand yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that may be keeping you from feeling the way you want to feel. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, stress, health concerns, or a major life change, we can work together to better understand what’s happening and identify meaningful ways to move forward.

Change doesn’t always happen quickly, and breaking familiar patterns can be difficult to do on your own. I approach therapy with support, curiosity, and respect, meeting you where you are while helping you work toward the changes that matter to you.

          My specialties include:

          • Gender and sexual diversity
          • Relationship difficulties
