Counseling for Seniors

While Orchard Mental Health Group offers therapuy and counseling services for adults of all ages, we also understand that adults over the age of 65 have concerns that require special care and understanding. We have counselors that specialize in working with the senior population.

Aging presents unique challenges.

While psychotherapy for seniors (65+) adults follows similar approaches to adult psychotherapy, its foci might change.

Therapy for seniors requires a nuanced and holistic approach that takes into account the unique needs, experiences, and challenges of older adults to support their mental health and well-being.

Many of our care providers host virtual sessions.

We employ multiple research-based therapy modalities.

Everyone’s journey is unique to them, which is why each person’s treatment is tailored to their needs.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

A common therapy modality, CBT is a problem-focused form of behavioral treatment that helps people see the difference between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and free them from unhelpful patterns of behavior.

Single-Session Therapy

Designed to be focused, intensive, and solution-oriented, single-session therapy (SST), or one-time therapy, aims to achieve meaningful change or resolution in a client’s issue within a one single therapy session.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

MBCT is designed to help clients develop a different relationship with their thoughts and feelings. It’s especially helpful for those who suffer from recurrent depression, and often done in group settings.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

The therapeutic goal of ACT is psychological flexibility, which means you are capable of staying present, and adapting to the moment in a way that allows you to live a meaningful life.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT has a strong educational component designed to provide skills for managing intense emotions and negotiating social relationships. It’s useful in treating mood disorders and suicidal ideation, as well as for changing behavioral patterns.

Psychodynamic Therapy

PDT’s basis states deriving insights from childhood can give patients insights about their current problems. This therapy’s success relies heavily on trust, since the topics discussed during sessions are often sensitive or traumatic.

Therapy is for everyone.

Adult psychotherapy offers a range of benefits that can enhance well-being and quality of life for everyone, making it a valuable tool for personal growth and self-care.

Client Experiences

This is what some of our clients are saying!

From the moment I connected with [Orchard Mental Health], I felt at home. Appointment setting was easy. They made me comfortable from the start. Although I haven’t met all the therapists, I can tell you the ones I know are trustworthy, smart, and can get to the heart of the problem (with solutions!) quickly. What is good to know also is that they not only provide counseling, they do testing and can manage medications if need be. Highly recommend.

I cannot put into words how much working with Sarah has impacted my life. She has helped me so much to grow into a version of myself that I value. She has really helped me get through these pandemic times and also served as a mentor.

Dr. Archer is amazing. I finally found a therapist that I vibe with and just gets it. She’s very professional, knowledgeable and most importantly she LISTENS! I was a previous patient and just recently returned to this practice.

Mary, the scheduler/administrative worker was so kind, professional, proactive, and empathetic. I could not be more appreciative of her active listening skills, compassion, and willingness to help me.

Dr. Snow is a very kind and professional psychiatric provider.

I love working with Genevieve. She is supportive and a very nice therapist.

I am very satisfied with my clinician. She has helped me greatly in solving my anxiety and PTSD issues. There is always stress in my life. But, with the right tools, it’s possible to understand and cope. My clinician provides that for me.
