Is Spravato the same as ketamine?
Not exactly.
Spravato (esketamine) is derived from ketamine but is specifically formulated as a nasal spray and administered in a controlled medical setting.
Because it is more targeted, it may be used at lower doses and can offer a different treatment experience than IV ketamine.
Will my insurance cover Spravato?
Spravato is covered by many major insurance plans.
Our team will:
- Verify your benefits
- Handle prior authorizations
- Help guide you through the process
We’re here to make this as simple as possible.

How do I get started?
Your first step is a consultation with one of our board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
During this visit, we’ll review:
- Your symptoms
- Treatment history
- Whether Spravato may be a good fit
If you’ve received care elsewhere, bringing past records can be helpful.
What should I expect during treatment?
Treatment takes place in a comfortable, private setting.
- You’ll be seated in a reclining chair
- Sessions include a 2-hour observation period
- You can bring items like headphones, a blanket, or a book
Many patients choose to rest quietly during treatment.
Are there side effects?
Like all medications, Spravato may cause side effects.
The most common include:
- Feeling disconnected or “out of body”
- Dizziness or nausea
- Drowsiness or fatigue
- Temporary changes in mood or perception
These effects typically occur shortly after treatment and resolve the same day.
What happens after treatment?
For your safety:
- You should not drive or operate machinery until the next day
- You’ll need a plan to get home (friend, family member, or transport service)
Our team will check in with you after your session to ensure you’re doing well.
